Nepeta ‘Blue Wonder’

Award winning catmint is a top choice for sun gardens. Appealing color combination of blue/lavender flowers over gray/green foliage.

Tolerates drought and can be planted in shallow, rocky soil. Great in rock gardens, herb gardens or as a border plant.

Smothered in flowers most of the summer. Pollinator magnet. Cut back after first flowers fade to promote continuous bloom.

Hydrangea ‘Annabelle’

Ever popular Annabelle has a stunning white 10″ flowers from early summer to fall.

Unlike the blue and pink hydrangeas, Annabelle blooms every year even after severe pruning or intensely cold winters. The huge blooms appear in profusion without fail.

Leave the flower heads on. The papery blooms provide gorgeous winter interest. Great for cut flowers.

Caryopteris ‘Snow Fairy’

Low growing shrub-like perennial with pretty variegated foliage. Small purple flowers bloom from August to September.

Rated zone 6 but did great in our cold, windy backyard in an exposed location. May consider placing in a protected location.

Drought tolerant. Does not like wet, poorly-drained soils. Dies back to the ground each winter.

Goldenrod ‘Fireworks’

An explosion of yellow in late summer is the result from the radiating stems of this native Goldenrod.

Selected for its compact habit, Fireworks will stop traffic with its brilliant flowers that completely cover the foliage in late summer.

Liatris Blazing Star

This easy to grow long-lived perennial grows bigger and better each year.

Very heat tolerant but prefers moist well draining soil.

Perfect for the rain garden. Also nice in mass plantings in perennial borders.

Hydrangea ‘Burgundy Lace’

Huge 8 inch cone shaped flowers bloom on this lovely, late blooming hydrangea. Can grow to 8 feet at full maturity.

Coarse texture can be used to stand apart from other landscape plants with finer foliage.

Blooms start cream white, then turn burgundy in fall.

Prune in late fall.

Panicum ‘Northwind’

This is an awesome grass in every aspect. Beautiful, hardy and a great grower all around.

The blue-green color is perfect to offset or combine with other plants. Grass stays upright even after the season for great winter interest.

Prefers wet soil, but tolerates our sunny dry gardens without missing a beat.

Helianthus ‘Flore Pleno’

Bright happy double flowers cover this hardy sunflower in summer.

Quickly becoming my favorite plant in the cut flower garden. This flowering machine is sturdy and large and can take the heat. The 3″ flowers are perfect to brighten up a summer flower arrangement.

Penstemon ‘Husker Red’

1996 perennial plant of the year. Beautiful tall burgundy foliage. Small white flowers emerge atop long stems in the early summer give this prized perennial a pop.

Combine with plants of brighter foliage for a show stopping accent, or plant in mass in sunny borders.

Drought tolerant. Tolerates clay soils. Avoid wet, poorly drained soil.

Lady’s Mantle

Popular for its unique foliage. Forms a mound of interesting scalloped leaves which hold beads of water that glimmer in the sun after rainfall.

Yellow flowers cover the plant atop 12″ stems in June.

Makes an excellent edging plant for garden beds and walkways.

Deer and rabbit resistant.
